Church Lane is scheduled for resurfacing between the period of Monday 5th June until Tuesday 4th July between the hours of 6:00-17:00, or until completion of the resurfacing. The proposed dates for the road closure are 26th & 27th June with the roadworks to be active from 9:15-15:00 to minimise disruption to residents & local businesses. However these are subject to change.
An alternative route for vehicular traffic affected by the closure is Preston Road – Chorley Lane and vice versa.
Neargates is scheduled for road repairs between the period of Tuesday 30th May until Friday 9th June between the hours of 6:00-18:00, or until completion of the repairs. No proposed dates for the works have been received as of yet.
As Neargates is a cul-de-sac there is no alternative route for vehicular traffic.
The Big Gig 2017
The Big Gig 2017 is set to take place on Friday 26th May 2017 at Standish Social Club (formerly Standish Labour Club) in aid of Cancer Research UK.
The night will consist of 3 great acts, a fabulous auction and raffle with some really amazing prizes. Tickets are just £6 each and are available from our clerk & event organiser, Mrs Carolyn Cross & her husband, John.
If you would like to make a night of it, they’ve negotiated a great rate with Wrightington Country Club of £85 for a double room and £70 for a single room, including breakfast, use of the spa facilities, car parking and wifi. All the proceeds will go to Cancer Research UK so, why not join them and help them smash last year’s amount of £3950 which was raised on the night.
If anyone would like to donate raffle prizes, or give a donation for Cancer Research please contact Carolyn via phone 01257 423128 or email firstname.lastname@example.org

Mossie Close Play Area
The Parish Council has received some funding from Chorley Council which they are planning to use on PHASE III enhancements to Mossie Close Play Area, at the rear of the houses on Leeson Avenue and Willow Drive, and would like to determine the views of the residents, all school children and young people of Charnock Richard on the following suggestions:
- The inclusion of a Multi-Use-Games-Area (MUGA) on the site. An area with a hard tarmac surface which would meet the needs of multiple sports within one play area whether it is netball, football, hockey, cricket or basketball.
- A Zip-Wire, a Viking Swing, a See-Saw, and a Rocking Horse.
It is hoped that the provision of either of these schemes, will add to the existing play provision, will enhance the leisure, play and amenities available to the young people of the Parish and, will make Mossie Close Play Area an all-age inclusive play space for Charnock Richard.
You can download the feedback form below and return it to a Parish Councillor, School, Scouts & Guides,
